Paris Fashion Week is known as the biggest stage in fashion, a place where the world watches what is next. But this time, something different happened. South Africa did not just show up, it stood out.
This year, a group of proudly South African designers and creatives made history in Paris. Maxhosa Africa, Imprint ZA, Scalo, Otiz Seflo, and Township Luxury brought real African flavour to one of the most prestigious fashion events in the world. And the world paid attention.
Maxhosa Africa led the way with a collection called Izipho Zabadala, which means Gifts from the Elders. This was not just about fashion, it was a tribute to where we come from. Every piece told a story of heritage, pride, and identity. The runway came alive when South African music legend Yvonne Chaka Chaka walked the runway, while Zawadi YaMungu sang live during the show. It was powerful, emotional, and something Paris had never seen before.

Imprint ZA
Imprint ZA also took things to another level with their latest collection, Silapha Nje Kungemithandazo: Chapter 2. The name says it all, We are only here because of prayer. Known for bold prints and meaningful stories, Imprint used fashion to speak about faith, culture, and survival. Their showcase during Tranoï Paris Fashion Week SS26 was a reminder that African stories belong on global stages.

Township Luxury
Although Township Luxury did not host a runway show, the brand still made noise across the city. With its mix of kasi style and high-end flair, Township Luxury turned the streets of Paris into its own kind of runway. It proved that luxury can come from the township and still stand tall among the best in the world.

While fashion took center stage in Paris, Brutal Fruit Spritzer brought a refreshing touch of home to the city. The beloved South African brand introduced its famous Pink Table experience to a global audience, turning moments into memories for a handpicked group of guests from around the world. These guests, lovingly called “besties,” were treated to an unforgettable journey through Paris, filled with elegance, laughter, and connection. In the heart of one of the world’s most glamorous cities, Brutal Fruit reminded everyone that style is not just what you wear, it is how you show up, celebrate friendship, and embrace every moment with confidence and joy.

It was not just the brands making waves. South African stars brought the heat too. Ama Qamata not only attended fashion week, but she also walked the Le Défilé Loreal Paris runway in a beautiful red mini dress. South African personalities such as Sarah Langa, Pearl Thusi, Sinqobile Tusani, Liesl Laurie, Mzukisi Mbane, Phupho Gumede, and Pamela Mtanga all showed up looking stylish and proud. They attended shows by big names like L’Oréal Paris, The Business of Fashion, Casablanca, and Maxhosa, making sure South Africa was seen, heard, and felt.

This year’s Paris Fashion Week was not just about clothes, it was about culture, pride, and presence. South Africa showed the world that our fashion, our music, and our people belong on the biggest stages.
