NBA Africa has teamed up with South African premium clothing brand Old School to launch a fresh, fashion-forward apparel range. The collaboration is called the NBA African Original Lifestyle Collection, and it blends global basketball culture with African creativity. The collection was officially unveiled in South Africa and is inspired by six iconic NBA teams: Boston Celtics, Chicago Bulls, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat, and New York Knicks.

Designed in Africa, Inspired by the Game
This collection is proudly designed in Africa. It celebrates the continent’s bold colours, energy, and cultural vibrancy. Classic basketball heritage is mixed with modern streetwear, creating pieces that feel current, premium, and expressive.
Fans can expect high-quality knitwear and t-shirts that reflect both NBA legacy and African identity. For now, the collection is available exclusively at Old School stores across South Africa and online at oldschool.co.za. From April 2026, it will also be sold at NBA Stores in South Africa and online at NBAStore.Africa.
A Strategic Move for NBA Africa
NBA Africa says the partnership is about more than just clothing. It is about culture.
Kerosha Naidoo, Director of Merchandising and Licensing at NBA Africa, says the collaboration highlights the connection between basketball, fashion, and Africa’s creative spirit. She adds that Old School’s strong reputation for original sportswear made them the perfect partner. The goal is simple. Give South African fans new ways to show their love for the game.
A Major Milestone for Old School
For Old School, this collaboration marks a big moment. Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer Stephan Steinmann describes the partnership as a landmark achievement. While the brand has worked with major African sports teams before, collaborating with the NBA places Old School firmly on the global stage.
It is a proud moment for a homegrown brand with international ambition.
Timed with Global Basketball Moments
The launch lines up with two major events on the basketball calendar. First is World Basketball Day, celebrated on 21 December. The day honours the birth of basketball, first introduced by Dr. James Naismith in 1891. Second is the NBA’s highly anticipated Christmas Day games. This year marks the 18th consecutive year of NBA games on Christmas Day. African fans can watch all five games live on ESPN, Disney+, and NBA League Pass via the NBA App.
Basketball, Fashion, and Africa on One Stage
This collaboration shows how far African brands have come. It also shows how global leagues like the NBA continue to invest in African culture, talent, and creativity.
