The Marble Hotel Sandton is officially on the way, marking Marble Hospitality’s first entry into the hotel space. The new luxury boutique hotel will open at Olympus Sandton as part of a R1.736bn mixed-use development, a project that has already broken sales records with over R1.2bn in apartments sold within days. Construction begins this month, with completion expected in late 2027.

Joburg Is Getting the First Marble Hotel
Marble Hospitality is expanding from restaurants to hotels, introducing a 32-room luxury boutique property at Olympus Sandton. The hotel will occupy two floors of the Apollo tower. This move comes almost 10 years after David Higgs, Gary Kyriacou, Dino Constantinou and Irene Kyriacou opened Marble Rosebank, which later expanded into Saint, Zioux, Marble Cape Town, Marble Circus events and Pantry.
“We have always believed that hotels are the pinnacle of hospitality,” says Constantinou. “Once you get to the hotel, you have arrived.”
The opportunity started with a simple idea for a Pantry at Olympus Sandton, which then grew into a restaurant on the 18th floor and eventually into the hotel concept. “Tim absolutely loved it,” Constantinou says of Tricolt’s Tim Kloeck. “Once it launched it sold like wildfire, but we had already secured our floors.”
A Fresh Kind of Hotel for Joburg
The team aims to introduce a design-driven, personality-filled hotel that fills the gap in Joburg’s boutique offering. “There isn’t much here,” Constantinou notes. “Other than the Saxon and the Four Seasons… Overseas you have cool, edgy hotels everywhere. Here, slim pickings.”
With only 32 rooms, the hotel focuses on personalised service. “We want that feeling of home… What temperature should the room be? What pillows do you want?” says Constantinou.
Interiors are being led by Irene Kyriacou alongside Grid Worldwide and award-winning designer Tristan du Plessis. The hotel will connect to a ground-floor Pantry, a pool deck dining area and a high-end restaurant upstairs.
A Proudly Joburg Story
Marble’s growth reflects Joburg’s energy and appetite for bold ideas. Pantry has become a community favourite, and the group continues to expand with confidence. As Constantinou adds: “We are actually just a small family business at the end of the day… And somehow, we have managed to grow to this level.”
