Chery South Africa continues to make waves in the automotive industry. Exactly one year after celebrating its best-ever sales performance of just over 2,000 units, the brand has surpassed expectations once again. In November 2025, Chery sold 2,506 vehicles, securing its position as the 7th best-selling passenger vehicle brand in South Africa.

Strong Sales Amid a Growing Market
These record-breaking numbers come during a strong period for new vehicle sales. According to NAAMSA, over 54,000 new vehicles were sold in November alone. Within this competitive market, Chery has not only grown its presence but has also strengthened its reputation among South African drivers.
Tiggo 4 Pro Leads the SUV Segment
Adding to the brand’s success, the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro continues to top SUV sales charts. Its popularity has been boosted by the hybrid version of the model, part of the wider CSH line, which has consistently ranked near the top of the PHEV SUV segment for six months running.

Jay Jay Botes, General Manager of Chery South Africa, said:
“These outstanding results and our 2,500 record sales confirm that Chery is becoming a brand South Africans love and believe in. This is only the beginning – we’re building something extraordinary together.”
Rapid Growth Since Launch
Chery’s achievements are remarkable considering the brand only entered South Africa’s competitive SUV segment at the end of 2021 with the Tiggo 4 Pro. Within just 18 months, Chery sold over 20,000 vehicles. Annual sales doubled between 2022 and 2023, and 2024 saw yet another record-breaking year.
In 2025, Chery expanded its lineup with plug-in hybrids, including Chery Tiggo 7, 8, and 9 PHEVs and the hybrid electric Tiggo Cross. The brand also celebrated a global milestone, exporting over five million vehicles worldwide.
Looking Ahead to 2026
With a nationwide network of over 80 dealerships and an expanding lineup of SUVs and hybrids, Chery South Africa is set to maintain its record-breaking momentum into 2026. Plans include introducing its first fully electric vehicles and entering the competitive bakkie segment, offering more options to South African drivers.
