The South African Revenue Service (SARS) is cracking down on influencers promoting fake luxury “dupes.” What may seem like harmless content could actually land you in serious legal trouble.

“Dupes” Come at a Cost
Under the Counterfeit Goods Act, promoting or selling fake items like Gucci or Louis Vuitton bags can lead to up to three years in jail or fines of R5,000 per item. SARS warns that counterfeit trade harms the economy and cheats the country of valuable tax revenue.
Authenticity is the Real Flex
Influencers who profit from fake brand promotions are also required to declare their income. The message is clear fake goods come with real consequences. Partner with authentic brands that build trust, not trouble.
