KFC South Africa has launched a nationwide promotion aimed at easing the financial pressure many households face. Through its Streetwise “Originals Start Strong” campaign, the brand is giving away R5 million in education support to learners and students across the country.

What the KFC Campaign Is Offering
Back-to-school season remains one of the most expensive times of the year for parents. According to Children Count, more than 46 000 children did not attend school in 2024 due to the high cost of education. With school fees due and tertiary registrations opening, the burden is felt most sharply in January.
The campaign will see 200 families receive R24 000 each, which can be used to cover school, college, or university fees. In addition, 150 000 winners will receive airtime or data vouchers worth R25, offering smaller but meaningful support for everyday needs.
Running until 9 February, the promotion is linked to KFC’s Streetwise range, the brand’s most affordable meals. This ensures that the opportunity is open to as many South Africans as possible, regardless of income level.
Supporting South Africa’s Young ‘Originals’
According to Grant Macpherson, chief marketing and digital officer at KFC Africa, the initiative focuses on helping families during a time of intense financial strain. He says the campaign is about encouraging young people who are determined to succeed despite difficult circumstances.
KFC aims to help learners and students start the school year strong and stay on their education journey.
