South Africa’s most prestigious celebration of youth entrepreneurship, the Top 16 Youth-Owned Brands Awards (Top 16 YOBA), is back for its highly anticipated 4th edition. This initiative honours the extraordinary contributions of young South Africans, aged 18 to 35, who are reshaping the nation’s economic landscape through innovation, resilience, and creativity.

The YOBAs remain deeply rooted in the spirit of the youth of 1976, commemorating their legacy by recognizing today’s young entrepreneurs who boldly tackle challenges and create opportunities for others.
In addition to the awards show, the initiative introduces a comprehensive YOBA Report on youth entrepreneurship, with the objective to understand the needs and challenges faced by young entrepreneurs. This report, will enable the YOBAs to advocate for meaningful support from key stakeholders, including corporate South Africa, government entities, and other strategic partners.
Furthermore, the YOBA Report will equip entities that have a vested interest in youth development to create solutions that are tailored to the unique needs of youth-owned businesses.
Pat Mahlangu, Founder of the YOBAs, explains, “The YOBAs continue to be thee initiative that elevates the profile of young South Africans. The introduction of the report is our way of showing our commitment to drive the youth agenda forward and to be a credible source for youth entrepreneurship. 2025 will be the year we redefine how we celebrate youth excellence in entrepreneurship, setting new benchmarks for achievement and innovation. We encourage you to join us!”
