Nomzamo Mbatha Wins Best African Actress at the Septimius Awards

Nomzamo Mbatha, a South African actress and producer, won the Best African Actress award at the Septimus Awards. She received this award for her role in the South African TV series Shaka iLembe (2023).

Nomzamo Mbatha: An Actress and Producer

Nomzamo Mbatha, born on 13 July 1990 in Durban, is a South African actress, television personality, businesswoman, accountant, and human rights activist. She first gained fame as Thandeka Ndlovu in Isibaya from 2013 to 2020. Following her departure from the show, she entered Hollywood, appearing in Coming 2 America. Additionally, she starred with Bruce Willis in his final film, Assasin.

Growing up, Mbatha attended Rippon Primary School and Bechet High School in Durban. Later, she graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in accounting from the University of Cape Town in 2018.

Her acting career began with Isibaya after a competitive audition process in 2012. Subsequently, she made her film debut in Tell Me Sweet Something (2015) and hosted the travel show Holiday Swap. In the same year, she became the first South African to represent Neutrogena. By 2021, she signed with Creative Artists Agency and starred in Assassin (2023). Finally, in September 2022, she played Nandi and served as an executive producer for Shaka iLembe.

In her heartfelt Instagram post, Mbatha expressed, “Coming back home with a little extra weight in my luggage. God’s dream for my life is pretty cool to witness.
