From missing babies to store launches – it has been an interesting week for South Africa. On the Pat on Brands front – we launched the inaugural POB16, a Pat to youth-owned brands in the country. Young people who are changing the narrative and doing great things with their brands.

Bathu Shoes launches School Shoe initiative
As part of their CSI project, South African sneaker brand and one of the POB16 Top brands by the youth- Bathu – has launched their Bathu for Batho care project where they will be donating 1 000 000 school shoes, made by the brand over the next 10 years.
The brands’s founder and CEO, Theo Baloyi shared via his Twitter page, “this is a passion project for us, we are because of the people”, he said.
This is a great initiative from Bathu and was announced on Youth Day – an important day for South Africans. Theo further announced that Kellogs donated 13 000 units towards the Bathu for Batho initiative.
Showmax announces long-awaited Babes Wodumo and Mampintsha Reality Show
Showmax has released the first-look trailer for Babes Wodumo and Mampintsha‘s reality show “Uthando Lodumo”.
The reality show will follow Durban superstars in the build-up to their traditional wedding and give us a front-row seat into their controversial relationship. Uthando Lodumo is being produced and directed by South African Film and Television Award (SAFTA) winner Thomas Gumede and SAFTA nominee Lungile Radu through their production company, Parental Advisory.
All three episodes of the Showmax Original will be available to binge on 30 June 2021.
Thando Thabethe launches Thabooty store
Popular local actress and radio personality, Thando Thabethe has announced the official opening of her first store for her shapewear and underwear brand, Thabooty’s. She started her brand in 2017, selling her products online. Now fast forward- three years later, she has launched a physical store – which is situated in Dainfern Square.
Thabethe took to Twitter to share her excitement.
