Pat on Brands’ 4th year anniversary: A walk down memory lane

When Pat on Brand’s founder, Pat Mahlangu, decided to start this passion project, he had no idea that it would gain as much traction as it has over the past 4 years.

Although we are still toddlers as far a brand is concerned, we have created quite a name for ourselves. Having hosted numerous dialogues and events that focus on marketing and digital innovations. We have also interviewed some of the most interesting and sought-after industry professionals in the country. From CEOs to content creators, from social butterflies and politicians.

Pat on Brands has grown, and we have huge plans on how to take this brand to exciting heights. But before we delve into our plans, let us take it back to how and when Pat on brands started.

2015

Pat on Brands started on social media. Our CEO, Pat Mahlangu spearheading conversations around marketing. He focused on the brands that got it right, and of course those who missed the ball. Pat shared his thoughts, opinions, and expertise while using witty hashtags and giving insight into the brands we all know and love. As well as their identity and marketing strategy.

This is also the year that Pat introduced the first Pat on Brands logo.

The Journey of Branding was the theme of the very first Pat on Brands Dialogue. Held on 6 June 2019 at the home of Pat on Brands, Tshimologong Precinct in Braamfontein, Johannesburg.

Pat describes the dialogue as “an initiative born from the culture of storytelling to encourage dialogue between dynamic marketers with a track record, as well as young professionals who have just started their marketing careers. A platform that encourages the well-seasoned marketers to share their stories and experiences”.

Since then, the Pat on Brands dialogues have hosted a number of industry giants such as Musa Kalenga, the CFO of Brave Group, the Founder of Bloom Marketing, Nokuthula Magwaza, Christinah Mazibuko, Director and owner of Fifth Ace, Khensani Nobanda, group executive marketing and corporate affairs at Nedbank and CMO of Google Africa, Mzamo Masito, just to name a few.
