TCL Thinks Technology Should Be Experienced, Not Just Bought

These days, shoppers have to juggle display tech, AI features, smart home systems, and connected appliances, all by skimming through product pages and spec sheets.

Online shopping is more convenient than ever, but that doesn’t always make choosing what to buy any easier. That’s where TCL spots its chance.

The global consumer electronics brand has officially opened its first TCL Experience Store in South Africa at Cedar Square in Fourways, Johannesburg, marking a significant milestone in its local expansion strategy.

More than a retail outlet, the store is designed to help customers experience the brand’s latest innovations firsthand before making a purchase.

More Than Just Another Electronics Store

The launch of its first local Experience Store reflects the company’s confidence in the country’s consumer electronics market and its ambition to build stronger relationships with customers beyond traditional retail channels.

Rather than relying solely on third-party retailers, TCL now has a dedicated space where consumers can explore its expanding ecosystem of televisions, home appliances and smart technologies while receiving guidance from product experts.

According to Alvin Wang, General Manager of TCL South Africa, the store represents a major milestone in the brand’s local journey. “South Africa is an important market for TCL, and opening our first Experience Store here represents a significant milestone for the brand. Technology is best understood when you can see it, touch it, and experience it for yourself.”

The Experience Store bridges the gap between online discovery and physical retail by allowing customers to interact with products in real-world settings rather than relying solely on specifications and marketing materials.

Showcasing the Future of Home Entertainment

One of the biggest attractions inside the new Experience Store is TLC’s latest display technology.

Visitors can check out the company’s C7L and C8L SQD-Mini LED TVs, highlighting the latest in picture quality and display performance. The showroom also boasts a massive 98-inch SQD-Mini LED TV with Bang & Olufsen audio, blending a cinematic viewing experience with top-notch sound to showcase TCL’s push into the premium entertainment scene.

The Experience Store also showcases its growing portfolio of AI-powered home appliances, including washing machines, refrigerators and air-conditioning systems.

Among the highlights are washing machines featuring what TCL describes as the world’s largest drum available in a standard 24-inch front-load machine, demonstrating the company’s continued investment in innovation across multiple product categories.

Building Brand Confidence

As technology products get more advanced, brands are realizing that people often want hands-on experience before making big purchases.

Experience stores help ease uncertainty by letting customers compare products, ask questions, and see how different features fit into their daily lives.

“Technology is best understood when you can see it, touch it, and experience it for yourself. We want consumers to be able to walk into the store, explore our products, ask questions, and discover how our innovations can fit into their everyday lives. This is about creating a closer relationship between TCL and our customers, while giving them the confidence to make informed decisions.”

By creating a dedicated retail destination, TCL hopes to give consumers greater confidence in their purchasing decisions while strengthening long-term brand loyalty.

The opening of TLC’s first Experience Store demonstrates how consumer electronics retail continues to evolve.
