Grammy Award-winning South African musician Zakes Bantwini has teamed up with Corona Studios to premiere Golden Hour, an eight-minute documentary capturing his 2026 European tour and the moments behind his international performances.
Directed by filmmaker and photographer Maurice Koekemoer, the film follows Bantwini across Palma de Mallorca, Lisbon, Hamburg and Berlin, showcasing his musical journey while celebrating the growing global influence of South African Afro House.
Released ahead of his upcoming South African summer performances, the documentary is now available on YouTube.
Golden Hour Takes Fans Behind the Music
Rather than focusing only on performances, Golden Hour offers audiences a closer look at Bantwini’s life on tour.
In Mallorca, the South African producer performs alongside fellow Afro House star Shimza, while in Berlin, he joins international DJ Diplo aboard a music float at the Rave The Planet Parade.
Between these performances, the documentary captures quieter experiences, including exploring Lisbon’s historic streets, sailing through Hamburg and enjoying sunsets before taking to the stage.
These moments reflect the film’s central message: finding balance between ambition, creativity and being present.
Corona Studios Brings the This Is Living Philosophy to Life
Produced by Corona Studios, the documentary reflects Corona’s This Is Living philosophy, which celebrates meaningful experiences, connection and taking time to appreciate life’s moments.
Through Golden Hour, Corona connects its brand with Bantwini’s international musical journey and South African cultural identity.
The collaboration also demonstrates how brands are increasingly using entertainment and storytelling to connect with audiences beyond traditional advertising.
Rather than simply sponsoring a performance, Corona Studios has helped create a film that places the artist’s experiences at the centre of the story.
Zakes Bantwini Takes South African Afro House Global
Bantwini’s international journey extends beyond his European tour.
Through his record label, Mayonie Productions, he recently hosted an inaugural showcase at the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE).
The showcase featured emerging South African Afro House artists, including Samurai Yasusa, BlaqRhythm and Thandi Draai.
Their participation highlighted the growing presence of South African electronic music on international stages and the opportunities established musicians can create for emerging talent.
A Summer Takeover Awaits South African Fans
Following his European performances, Bantwini is preparing to bring his music back home.
The artist is scheduled to headline Mayonie Open Air on 29 November 2026 and perform as part of the nationwide Corona Sunsets Summer Tour.
These upcoming events extend the connection between Bantwini’s music, live entertainment and Corona’s lifestyle positioning.
For South African audiences, Golden Hour offers a glimpse into the experiences shaping the artist’s international journey before his return to local stages.
When Music and Brand Storytelling Come Together
The partnership between Zakes Bantwini and Corona Studios highlights the evolving relationship between brands and the entertainment industry.
Through documentary storytelling, Corona is connecting its brand identity with an artist whose music represents South African creativity on the global stage.
The collaboration also shows how branded content can celebrate culture while creating meaningful entertainment for audiences.
