Eskort new CEO Herman Janse van Rensburg will officially take over as Group Chief Executive Officer on 1 March 2027, succeeding Arnold Prinsloo, who retires after nearly two decades leading the South African pork producer.
The appointment, announced on 20 October 2026 by Eskort’s parent company, First Food Brands, marks a significant leadership transition for the 109-year-old South African food brand.
Janse van Rensburg, currently General Manager at Lactalis South Africa, brings 16 years of experience in food manufacturing, financial management and business operations.
He will join Eskort’s management team on 1 January 2027, allowing for a two-month handover before officially assuming the Group CEO position.
Eskort New CEO Brings 16 Years of Food Industry Experience
The appointment of Eskort new CEO Herman Janse van Rensburg brings extensive food manufacturing experience to the company’s leadership team.
During his 16 years at Lactalis South Africa, Janse van Rensburg progressed through several senior positions, beginning in financial management before moving into management control, business unit leadership and operations.
He became General Manager of Lactalis South Africa in July 2023.
Lactalis operates a national dairy manufacturing and distribution network employing approximately 2,700 people.
His experience across finance, manufacturing operations and commercial management will be relevant as Eskort continues developing its product portfolio, manufacturing capabilities and retail presence.
Eskort board chair Gerard Braak believes the incoming executive’s background will support the company’s future manufacturing, retail and product development plans.
Arnold Prinsloo Retires After Nearly 20 Years as Eskort CEO
The leadership transition marks the end of an important chapter for Eskort.
Arnold Prinsloo joined the company as Chief Operating Officer before being appointed CEO on 1 July 2007.
During his leadership, Eskort expanded its manufacturing capacity, strengthened its retail network and developed a portfolio of more than 300 antibiotic-free pork products.
The company also grew its branded retail footprint to 31 stores across eight South African provinces.
Today, Eskort operates two manufacturing facilities located in Estcourt, KwaZulu-Natal, and Heidelberg, Gauteng.
With a history spanning 109 years, the company remains an established participant in South Africa’s pork manufacturing industry.
Prinsloo’s final day as CEO will be 28 February 2027.
What the Eskort New CEO Appointment Means for the Brand
The Eskort new CEO appointment comes as South African food manufacturers face changing consumer preferences, competition for retail shelf space and pressure to keep their products relevant.
For Eskort, maintaining its established brand identity while identifying new opportunities will be an important part of its next phase.
Janse van Ginsburg’s background in dairy manufacturing provides experience in managing large-scale food production and distribution operations.
Although dairy and pork production serve different markets, both industries require effective manufacturing processes, supply chain management and strong retail relationships.
His appointment could therefore support Eskort’s efforts to strengthen operational efficiency and respond to evolving consumer needs.
The company’s existing manufacturing infrastructure, retail stores and extensive product portfolio provide a foundation for future development.

New CEO to Lead the Company’s Next Growth Phase
The transition will begin on 1 January 2027 when Janse van Rensburg joins Eskort’s management team.
He will work alongside Prinsloo during a two-month induction period before formally taking over on 1 March 2027.
This approach is intended to provide continuity during the leadership change.
As Eskort new CEO, Janse van Rensburg will inherit a business with more than a century of manufacturing history and an established presence in the South African food market.
His next challenge will be to build on that foundation while helping Eskort adapt to changing consumer expectations and retail conditions.
For the brand, the appointment represents an opportunity to combine established manufacturing expertise with new executive leadership as it enters its next chapter.
The appointment of the Eskort new CEO comes as South African food brands continue to strengthen their operations and adapt to changing consumer demands. This broader shift is also reflected in Woolworths’ introduction of its W.Chef AI meal-planning assistant, which Pat on Brands recently covered.
