Clicks recalls Made 4 Tots Corn puffs

In case you’ve missed it, Clicks has issued a recall of its Made for Tots Corn Puffs Chicken 12g snack after a specific batch tested positive for non-pathogenic Listeria contamination.

The recall was communicated to the National Consumer Commission (NCC), which has since notified consumers about the affected product.

According to Clicks, the recall impacts a total of 1,152 units. Of these, approximately 348 units were sold to consumers, while the remaining 804 units have already been removed from store shelves. The affected products were sold at Clicks stores across South Africa, through Clicks Online, and were also distributed to consumers in Lesotho.

Reason for the recall

Clicks indicated that the contamination involves a type of Listeria that is generally considered non-pathogenic to humans. However, the company noted that there have been rare and isolated reports of human illness linked to similar strains. As a precautionary measure, the company initiated the recall to ensure consumer safety.

How to identify the affected batch

Consumers who purchased the Made for Tots Corn Puffs Chicken 12g are encouraged to check the product details to confirm whether they have the affected batch. The identifying information includes the number 396194, manufacturing date 03.03.26, Lot 6:003, and best-before date 02.03.2027.

Customers who have the affected product are urged not to consume it and to return it to any Clicks store. Consumers will be able to receive a full refund or replacement, even if they no longer have proof of purchase. The NCC said it is monitoring this recall and others recently communicated to ensure suppliers comply with the Consumer Protection Act.

Ironically, the recall came as Sunday marked World Consumer Rights Day under the theme Safe Products. Confident Consumers, reminding suppliers of their responsibility to ensure products sold to the public are safe, of good quality, and free of defects.
