AAA School of Advertising is celebrating a successful awards season after its students earned recognition across four South African creative industry competitions, securing a Silver Loerie, second place in the Effie College Challenge, two Gold New Generation Awards and three iPendoring finalist spots.
The achievements highlight emerging talent in advertising, marketing effectiveness, integrated campaigns, design and illustration, with students receiving industry recognition while still completing their studies.
The results also demonstrate the growing importance of combining creative thinking with strategic marketing skills as young professionals prepare to enter South Africa’s advertising industry.
AAA School of Advertising Wins Silver at the Loerie Awards
Students from AAA School of Advertising were shortlisted across five Loerie categories, covering Indoor Poster, Print & Design Craft; Art Direction; Integrated Campaign; Creative Strategy; and Print Design Craft.
Among the standout achievements was Francois van Loggerenberg, who received Silver in the Student Integrated Campaign category.
The award recognises work that brings together different communication channels and creative elements to deliver a unified campaign idea.
For aspiring advertising professionals, recognition at the Loeries provides an opportunity to showcase their creative abilities beyond the classroom.
AAA Students Secure Silver Recognition at the Effie College Challenge
The school’s success extended to the Effie Awards, where Tayla Cooper, Relilwe Mohlala and Khanyisani Dlongolo secured second place in the Effie College Challenge.
The achievement adds a marketing effectiveness dimension to AAA’s awards performance.
Unlike competitions focused primarily on creative execution, the Effie College Challenge places emphasis on strategic thinking and the connection between marketing ideas and business objectives.
For the students involved, the result demonstrates their ability to approach advertising challenges through both creativity and strategic planning.
It also reinforces the importance of developing campaigns that communicate effectively while addressing clearly defined marketing objectives.
Double Gold for AAA School of Advertising at New Generation Awards
The AAA School of Advertising also celebrated two Gold awards at the New Generation Social & Digital Media Awards.
Students Tayla Cooper, Khanyi Dlongolo, Refilwe Mohlala and Francois van Loggerenberg were credited with the winning work.
The awards add digital and social media recognition to the school’s achievements, reflecting the increasingly diverse skills required in the advertising industry.
As brands continue to invest in digital communication, the ability to develop compelling creative concepts across platforms remains an important part of marketing education.
The two Gold awards highlight the students’ work in this area and contribute to AAA’s broader success across multiple creative disciplines.

Three iPendoring Finalist Spots Highlight Design Talent
AAA student Lesego Thubela secured three finalist spots at the iPendoring Awards.
The nominations were received across the following categories:
- Publication Design: Whole Publication
- Student Print, Design & OOH Craft: Art Direction
- Student Print, Design & OOH Craft: Illustration
The finalist recognition showcases creative work spanning publication design, art direction and illustration.
These disciplines remain important to brand communication, particularly in the development of distinctive visual identities and memorable advertising campaigns.
Thubela’s three finalist spots further demonstrate the range of creative work emerging from the school.
AAA School of Advertising Celebrates Emerging Creative Talent
Commenting on the students’ achievements, Avikar Ramsundra, Dean of AAA School of Advertising, acknowledged both the award recipients and the lecturers who supported their development.
“Seeing our students’ work being recognised at these awards is a proud moment for everyone at AAA. Behind each result are ideas that have been questioned, refined, and developed with care.”
Ramsundra congratulated the students and lecturers, adding that the school looks forward to seeing how the students build on their achievements as they enter the industry.
For AAA, participating in industry awards provides students with an opportunity to test their ideas against professional standards and receive recognition beyond academic assessments.
The experience also exposes emerging creatives to the expectations and competitive nature of the advertising industry.
What AAA’s Awards Success Means for South Africa’s Advertising Industry
The recognition earned by AAA School of Advertising students reflects the range of capabilities being developed among the country’s emerging advertising professionals.
From integrated campaigns and marketing effectiveness to social media, design and illustration, the results highlight the importance of multidisciplinary creative skills.
For brands and agencies, the achievements provide an early indication of the talent preparing to enter the industry.
The students’ success also reinforces the value of combining practical creative development with opportunities for external industry assessment.
As South Africa’s advertising landscape continues to evolve, the next generation of creative professionals will need to balance originality, strategic thinking and an understanding of how brands communicate with audiences.
With recognition across the Loeries, Effies, New Generation Awards and iPendoring, AAA’s students have demonstrated their potential across several areas of the creative industry.
The achievements of AAA School of Advertising students highlight the growing importance of creativity, strategic thinking and marketing effectiveness in South Africa’s advertising industry.
