The Third Annual DStv Content Creator Awards 2024

The third Annual DStv Content Creator Awards dazzled with exceptional talent, as content creators took center stage, showcasing the best in digital innovation.

The Purple Carpet

Nelson Mandela Square was the vibrant venue for the event, with creators, fans, and industry leaders gathering in an intimate, purpose-built space. Hosted by Anele Mdoda, the event’s energy was high, with performances from the Bontle Modiselle Dance Studio and several local stars adding to the excitement. Drag artists Manila von Teez and Ina Propriette brought extra flair to the night.

The iconic purple carpet buzzed as fans cheered for their favorite creators, while inside, winners received custom-designed trophies by artist Shaun Oakley, along with prize hampers valued at R7,000. Some categories also included generous cash prizes.

After the official awards ceremony, the celebrations continued at the Channel O After Party at the Hard Rock Café. With DJ Ms Cosmo and the Pandemic Boyz providing the soundtrack, the crowd partied well into the night.

DSTV proudly celebrates the incredible talent driving innovation across digital platforms

The event was a remarkable showcase of African creativity. Charis Coleman, head of digital content at MultiChoice South Africa, emphasized the significance of the awards. “As Africa’s biggest storyteller, DStv proudly celebrates the incredible talent driving innovation across digital platforms. These awards highlight the creativity shaping the future of content and sharing Africa’s stories with the world. We’re so happy to be involved.”

Event founder Manuela Dias de Deus reflected on how special it was to reach the third year of the awards. “It’s a testament to the incredible support we’ve received from digital talent, the industry, and fans alike. These creators are the driving force behind our vibrant content landscape, and we’re grateful to celebrate their achievements while creating career-defining opportunities.”

A night of Celebrations and big wins

Sifo the Cooking Husband was a big winner, grabbing both the prestigious Foodie Award and the coveted DStv Creator of the Year Award. Meanwhile, Chris Rogers claimed two victories as well, earning the Travel and Lifestyle Award and the Best Creator Campaign Content Award for his Bonaqua Chug Life campaign.

A new category for 2024, the Spirit of Africa Award, sponsored by Amarula Premium African Gin, was awarded to Colour Me Simphiwe, who also triumphed in the Beauty Award category. The award celebrates creators who embody the spirit and diversity of Africa’s rich storytelling.

Zoliswa Mahlobo won a dream prize—a luxurious 5-night trip to Mauritius, courtesy of Flight Centre and Beachcomber Resorts and Hotels. This added an extra layer of excitement to an already electric evening.
