The National Consumer Commission (NCC) announced a nationwide recall of certain Domestos cleaning products. The recall follows the identification of a packaging defect that may pose a safety risk to consumers.

The Products Affected
In a statement, the NCC confirmed that the recall applies to Domestos Lemon and Domestos Summer Fresh 750ml bottles. These products were manufactured between August and September 2025 and may already be in households across the country.
Unilever, the manufacturer of Domestos, notified the commission after discovering a defect in some of the affected products. According to the NCC, certain bottles may have a pinhole defect at the bottom, which can cause the product to leak when pressure is applied.
The leakage could result in product spillage, increasing the risk of skin contact or damage to household surfaces. Jacaranda FM reported that this may create potential health and safety concerns for consumers using the product at home.
Action Taken by Unilever
Unilever has confirmed that suppliers have already begun removing the affected stock from retailers and warehouses. The company added that it is working closely with its packaging supplier to ensure that the defect does not occur again in future production.
However, the NCC warned that while some of the stock may still be with retailers, there is a high possibility that the affected products have already been distributed for trade and sold to consumers.
Call To Action
Consumers who have purchased the affected Domestos products have been advised to stop using them immediately and return them to the store where they were purchased. Customers are entitled to a full refund.
The NCC has also urged the public to remain vigilant and to pay attention to product recall notices, as these are issued to help prevent potential health or safety risks.
