Meet the Host: Nompumelelo Satsha
Digital Marketing Specialist
Nompumelelo Satsha is the former head of Digital & Insights Lerato Agency with over 6 years experience in the industry. Her career started as digital marketer, earned & paid media junior specialist for an international Hotel & Resort group across Mauritius, Reunion Island, Turkey, China & Tanzania.
She also worked as the Artist Relation & Event Coordinator (Influencer marketing manager), earned & paid media buyer for MAC Cosmetics Sub Saharan Africa to date. Her portfolio included 10 countries in Africa, 3 of which were our major markets – Nigeria, Kenya & Ghana. Her success lies in fostering relationships with influencer brands like @cuppymusic & @majimb.o and creating friends of the brand, successful instore events in Nigeria, Kenya & Ivory Coast & increased engagement on Retailer & influencer platforms.
She has a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting & Taxation from The University of Witwatersrand.
Television Presenter and Actress
Thembisa Mdoda is a born creative and her creativity spans far and wide earning her the title of ‘Jack of all Trades’ in the entertainment industry. A purposeful and driven woman, Thembisa strengthened her knowledge adding to her creative streak. This wonder woman has three degrees in her handbag (Graphic Design, Hon.Dramatic Arts, Media Studies and Journalism) and she is not planning on stopping there.
From journalism, writing, radio and television presenting to acting, Thembisa has done it all and with flying colours. It is to be expected for someone who has creativity streaming through their blood. Thembisa’s talent as an entertainer means she is able to step into any role and bring a character to life that had previously only existed on paper. With versatility and adaptability, Thembisa can do it all, from behind-the-scenes to the stage and the big or small screens.
Of all the talents Thembisa possesses, she highlights her best career as being a mother. Family is very dear to Thembisa’s heart and it is with her family that she developed a love for the great outdoors and seeking adventure from the mountain trails to the lines of fishing rods. The dust and the hands of Mother Nature have not deviated Thembisa Mdoda from her interest in fashion, beauty, health and fitness.
A woman of substance, Thembisa also acts on her passion for youth development and women’s rights by working with and sitting on the board of Ambassadors Youth and Community Development (AYCD).
With beauty, brains and talent, Thembisa Mdoda lives in colour and walks to the sound of her own tune.

Eastern Cape born, Thembisa Mapukata, arrived in the shores of Johannesburg to pursue a career in Business Studies. She went on to study at the Wits Business School where she obtained a post graduate in Business Administration and where she is currently doing her MBA. Also in her bag are executive courses obtained from renowned business schools such as UCT Business School and Insead. She graduated as a chartered marketer in 2010. Thembisa also completed a strategic leadership program to add on to her many accomplishments.
Before joining Old Mutual, Thembisa spent 13 years in the FMCG industry with companies such as, Colgate Palmolive, Cadbury, Oceana and Premier Foods predominantly as a marketing specialist. During this period, she was involved in extensive marketing research studies and market immersions. One of her responsibilities was to head up community based marketing program which was set to design an operating model whose role was to develop and implement a sustainable route to market strategy, marketing and community engagement strategy into the bottom end of the trade. These roles also included development and support of Channel and category strategies.
During her 13 years at Old Mutual, Thembisa has held various positions within the company, currently a General Manager of Innovation and Alternative Channels. She also headed up the Foundation Market business unit at Old Mutual South Africa with the mandate to develop solutions and strategies to increase financial services access into the lower end of the market also known as Bottom of the Pyramid. The ultimate goal is to drive financial inclusion and address the inequalities in the people that were previously not included in the economy.
To escape the hustle and bustle of the big city, Thembisa enjoys the tranquility of being in the Wild and her favorite holiday destination is the Eastern Cape. Her best reads are “Leader without a title”, “How the mighty fall”, “The tipping point” and “8 days in September” to name a few, coupled with good music.
Thembisa has a keen interest in understanding market dynamics that influence customer behavior. She has a passion for working with disadvantaged communities where she can help empower them and change lives of those less fortunate.
Her Strengths include, understanding of business environment and mass market, including market research and insights interpretation; sales and distribution, business model design and implementation with an end to end value chain appreciation.
