Ford South Africa Appoints Tarryn Knight as New Head of Marketing

Ford South Africa has announced the appointment of Tarryn Knight as its new head of marketing. With nearly 20 years of experience in the automotive industry, Knight is set to lead the company’s marketing efforts as it continues to grow and strengthen its presence in South Africa.

A Proven Leader in Automotive Marketing

Tarryn Knight brings a wealth of experience to her new role at Ford. Over the years, she has held senior marketing positions at leading German automotive brands, including Audi and Volkswagen. Most recently, Knight served as the head of marketing, PR, and product at Audi South Africa for almost five years. Before that, she worked as the marketing communications and product manager at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles South Africa.

Her expertise in marketing communications, event management, and brand partnerships will play a crucial role in shaping Ford’s marketing strategies moving forward, especially as the company continues to update its product offerings and enhance the customer experience.

Building on Success in a Challenging Market

Knight’s appointment comes at a time when Ford South Africa has been performing well, even amid a difficult market. In 2024, Ford achieved year-on-year growth despite a general decline in the automotive sector. This success follows a period of strategic work to refresh the company’s product portfolio, with a focus on improving both the customer experience and overall brand perception.

Ford South Africa’s managing director, Neale Hill, expressed confidence in Knight’s ability to drive the company’s marketing efforts forward in 2025 and beyond, noting, “We have no doubt that Tarryn and her marketing team will play an instrumental role in helping raise the bar further this year and beyond.”

A Personal Milestone for Tarryn Knight

For Knight, joining Ford South Africa is a significant and proud moment in her career. “Joining the longest-standing vehicle manufacturer in South Africa, and one with such a unique place in the global automotive story, is a proud moment for me,” she said.

Since starting at Ford, Knight has already had the chance to experience the company’s exciting partnerships and corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, which have further fueled her enthusiasm. She looks forward to working with her new team to continue sharing and growing the Ford brand in South Africa.

Innovation and Sustainability

As the automotive industry moves toward sustainability and innovation, Ford is positioning itself for the future. The focus on electric vehicles (EVs), new mobility solutions, and sustainability is key to the company’s evolving strategy, and Knight’s leadership will help ensure that Ford stays relevant in a rapidly changing market.

Her experience with premium brands and her understanding of consumer trends will be crucial as Ford South Africa looks to attract a younger, tech-savvy audience, particularly those interested in environmentally friendly vehicles.
