Estée Lauder Names New Communications Leader

The beauty industry is evolving at the crossroads of culture, creators, and digital engagement.

Over the past decade, it has undergone dramatic changes, with consumers now discovering brands through influencers, social media, and cultural conversations just as much as through traditional advertising.

The Estée Lauder Companies has appointed Madeleine Boyd as its new Senior Vice President, Global Brand Communications.

Starting July 20, 2026, Boyd will take the helm of a newly combined Global Brand Communications team, highlighting the company’s focus on unified storytelling, earned media, and creator partnerships across its lineup of prestige beauty brands.

While the appointment is a leadership announcement, it also signals a broader shift in how one of the world’s largest beauty companies plans to build brand relevance in an increasingly fragmented media landscape.

A New Era of Brand Communications

According to Estée Lauder, Boyd will be responsible for creating a cohesive enterprise communications strategy across its diverse portfolio while accelerating consumer-first storytelling to strengthen earned media, cultural relevance, and brand desirability. She will also lead efforts to deepen creator engagement as consumers increasingly discover and interact with beauty brands through social platforms and digital communities.

The appointment fits right in with the company’s ongoing “Beauty Reimagined” strategy, aimed at streamlining operations, boosting teamwork, and driving growth. Earlier this year, Estée Lauder rolled out its “One ELC” operating model, uniting teams, technology, and strategic partners to build a more connected and cohesive business.

Most recently, she served as Global Senior Vice President, Beauty & Wellness at Together Group, where she oversaw strategy and growth across a portfolio of 15 agencies and consultancies.

Before that, she spent almost seven years at the luxury communications agency Karla Otto, working her way up to Senior Vice President of Global Beauty & Wellness. Earlier in her career, Boyd took on brand marketing, digital content, and editorial roles at MECCA and Vogue Australia.

Her background spans agency leadership, editorial storytelling and brand strategy—an increasingly valuable combination as companies seek to create content that resonates across multiple platforms and audiences.

Why This Appointment Matters

For years, corporate communications focused largely on press releases, media relations, and reputation management.

Communications leaders are now expected to shape cultural conversations, strengthen creator partnerships, manage corporate reputation and deliver consistent storytelling across paid, earned, owned and shared media.

By creating a dedicated Global Brand Communications function, Estée Lauder is recognising that communications has become a strategic growth driver rather than simply a support function.

In announcing the appointment, Meridith Webster, Chief Communications and Public Affairs Officer at The Estée Lauder Companies, described Boyd as bringing a combination of strategic communications expertise, cultural fluency and a deep understanding of today’s beauty consumer.

“Madeleine brings a powerful combination of strategic communications expertise, cultural fluency, and a deep understanding of today’s beauty consumer,” said Meridith Webster. “As we continue to evolve how our brands engage consumers and shape conversations globally, Madeleine will lead a best-in-class Global Brand Communications organization that elevates our storytelling, strengthens collaboration across our portfolio, and helps our brands earn relevance, resonance, and long-term desirability.”

Boyd’s appointment comes as global beauty companies continue to adapt to changing consumer behaviour, digital commerce and the growing influence of creators on purchasing decisions.
