Elizabeth Mokwena, a marketing expert with more than 14 years of experience, has been announced as the new jury president.

Who Is Elizabeth Mokwena?
Elizabeth Mokwena is the home care executive marketing director for Unilever Africa. She has helped global brands like Sunlight and Domestos succeed in African markets while also helping African brands reach international audiences. She describes her work as “giving global brands an African passport and African brands global exposure.” Mokwena believes in the power of creativity to make a difference. “I think 2025 is a big year for our industry, and I’m honored to help highlight digital work that makes an impact,” she said.
What Are the Bookmark Awards?
The Bookmark Awards are all about recognizing the best digital work in South Africa. They look for campaigns that are creative, innovative, and effective. Now in its 17th year, the awards continue to grow, setting the standard for excellence in the industry. Mokwena is taking over from Khensani Nobanda, who led the awards for three years. Nobanda worked hard to keep the awards relevant after the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Fresh Faces on the Committee
The Bookmark Awards committee for 2025 has welcomed new members who bring fresh energy and perspectives. These include Jerusha Raath from News24, Tanya de Jongh from RAPT Creative Agency, Chris Borain from IAB South Africa, and Adrian Naidoo from Mindshare. They join returning members Robyn Campbell from Publicis Machine and Pippa Misplon from Retroviral. Together, the team plans to make this year’s awards more impactful and reflective of South Africa’s growing digital industry.
