Brands On The Rise: Sneaker Cleanic -Building an Industry, Not Just a Business

For our very first Brands on the Rise 2026 feature, we spotlight a township-born brand that is redefining sneaker culture from the ground up.

This is not just about cleaning shoes.
This is about structure, scale and building an entirely new service category.

Meet Sneaker Cleanic

The Brand

Sneaker Cleanic is a sneaker cleaning, restoration and repair company built on three pillars: preservation, professionalism and access.

Sneakers today are more than footwear. They are fashion statements. Cultural markers. Personal identity.

Yet for years, there has been no structured, professional industry dedicated to preserving them particularly in township communities. Sneaker Cleanic exists to change that.

The mission is simple but powerful:

  • Extend the life of sneakers

  • Teach customers how to care for what they own

  • Introduce structured sneaker care as a legitimate service industry

They are not just cleaning shoes.
They are formalising sneaker care.

The Origin Story

The founder started Sneaker Cleanic at a turning point. Instead of searching for another job, he chose to build his own opportunity.

By studying his environment, he noticed something clear:
People valued sneakers deeply. But when they became dirty or damaged, there was no reliable, professional solution. Shoes were worn, damaged or thrown away. That gap wasn’t small. It was underserved.

What followed was hands-on experimentation developing cleaning methods, restoration techniques and service procedures from scratch; testing, refining, improving.

What began as a small operation has now grown into multiple stores employing young people and delivering a specialised service that previously did not exist in those communities.

This wasn’t built for hype.
It was built to solve a real problem.

What Makes Sneaker Cleanic Different?

Sneaker Cleanic is not positioning itself as a cleaning service.

It is building:

  • A structured service system

  • A proprietary product line

  • A technology platform

The business has developed its own sneaker-care methods and products tailored specifically for sneakers. Staff are professionally trained with clear quality control and structured procedures.

Even more interesting? They are building ServPOS, a service-based point-of-sale system designed to manage customers, staff and workflow. This lays the foundation for scale and future franchising.

Sneaker Cleanic is not just a shop.

It’s a brand.
A product company.
And a tech-enabled service platform.

Recognition & Milestones

From one small operation to multiple stores employing over a dozen young people — that growth alone is significant.

Sneaker Cleanic also won Top Service Brand at the 4th Annual Top 16 Youth-Owned Brands Awards (YOBAs) — a major validation of its quality, consistency and impact within the youth entrepreneurship ecosystem.

Developing their own sneaker-care products and earning repeat customer trust has further strengthened the brand’s position in the market.

But perhaps the most powerful achievement?
Proving that a township-born business can be structured, professional and scalable.

Sneaker Cleanic is shifting perceptions about what is possible.

The Vision

The ambition is bold:

  • Build a national brand

  • Expand into an international franchise

  • Train entrepreneurs

  • Create structured employment for young people

  • Stock their products in retail stores and online

Long term, the goal is clear:
When people think sneaker care, they think Sneaker Cleanic first.

Where to Find Them

Sneaker Cleanic is currently operating in:

  • Mabopane

  • Soshanguve
