Tyla Adds Another Global First to Her Growing Brand

South African Grammy Award-winning singer Tyla has reached another major career milestone, becoming the first African artist to receive an official Bratz Celebrity Collector doll.

Known for celebrating trendsetters, musicians and cultural tastemakers, Bratz’s decision to immortalise Tyla in doll form further cements her status as one of Africa’s most influential cultural exports and a rising global pop culture icon.

The Bratz x Tyla collector’s doll will make its public debut on 24 July 2026 at a Bratz pop-up store inside FAO Schwarz at Rockefeller Plaza in New York, the same day Tyla releases her highly anticipated sophomore album, A*POP.

No DNA, Just RSA

Since breaking onto the international music scene with her Grammy Award-winning hit Water, Tyla has become one of Africa’s biggest cultural exports. Her influence now extends far beyond music, helping shape global conversations around fashion, beauty and pop culture.

The collector’s doll is part of Bratz’s 25th-anniversarycelebrations, making the collaboration even more significant.

Celebrating the achievement, Tyla shared her excitement on social media, “I finally got my own doll. Everyone who is an OG remembers when I tweeted that one day I’m going to have my own doll. I got my Bratz doll, limited edition. I’m the first African to have a Bratz doll.”

The Power of Cultural Branding

The collaboration is particularly meaningful because it fulfils a dream Tyla shared publicly two years ago. In 2024, after seeing fan artwork depicting herself as a Bratz doll, she posted on social media:

“Imma have my own Tyla doll one day. This cute affff.”

What once seemed like a personal aspiration has now become a landmark achievement.

Celebrity collaborations have become an increasingly important strategy for brands looking to remain culturally relevant.

For Tyla, this partnership reinforces her status as a global cultural icon whose influence now extends well beyond streaming charts. With millions of followers and a rapidly expanding global fan base, she allows Bratz to connect with younger consumers through music, fashion, and digital culture.

Bratz partnering with Tyla highlights the brand’s approach to connecting with cultural icons who resonate with Gen Z through music, fashion, and social media.

This is a big moment for African representation in global consumer brands, with the first African artist to have an official Bratz doll showcasing the rising international recognition of African talent and creativity.

Inspired by Tyla’s Signature Style

The collector’s doll features two signature Tyla looks inspired by defining moments in her career.

One outfit recreates her unforgettable “Sands of Time” look from the 2024 Met Gala, with a sculptural gown designed to resemble flowing sand, complete with a miniature hourglass handbag.

Inspired by Tyla’s stage performances, the second outfit features a tie-front crop top, a shimmering skirt adorned with black sequins, and a gold chain belt accented with a Bratz charm.

The doll also captures Tyla’s signature beauty aesthetic, including shoulder-length braids styled with a side part and flipped ends, metallic green eye makeup, and a glossy plum lip.

Collectors will also receive several exclusive accessories, including two award trophies, gold earrings, a gold necklace, a miniature vinyl record of her debut album TYLA, a magazine featuring an exclusive artist profile, and her signature tiger complete with a chain leash.

What This Means for African Brands

Celebrity dolls have become powerful brand-building tools, allowing artists to extend their identity beyond music into fashion, merchandise and lifestyle products.

More importantly, Tyla’s latest milestone demonstrates that African talent is no longer being recognised solely for achievements in music or sport. Global brands are increasingly looking to African creators as cultural leaders capable of shaping worldwide consumer trends.

For African brands, the partnership is a reminder that investing in authentic storytelling, strong personal branding and cultural relevance can unlock opportunities that extend far beyond national borders.

As African artists continue to influence global pop culture, collaborations like this are likely to become increasingly common.
