Who May Enter
The 2026 CIPC IP Youth Awards are open to young South Africans aged 18–35. You can enter as:
A solo innovator or inventor
Part of a creative or research team
A developer of transformative concepts or business solutions
Your idea must be original, impactful, and protected or protectable by intellectual property (IP). Participants should demonstrate how their innovation addresses real-world problems, creates value, or contributes to society.
Eligibility & Criteria for 2026
To enter, submissions must meet the following criteria:
Age: Entrants must be between 18 and 35 years old.
Nationality/Residency: Applicants must be South African citizens or permanent residents.
Innovation Type – Ideas can include:
Patents, designs, or inventions
Copyright-protected creative works
Innovative solutions addressing societal or environmental challenges
Business models with IP at the core
Impact: Submissions should show potential for sustainable economic, social, or environmental impact.
IP Protection: Ideas should be protected or have a clear strategy for IP protection (patents, trademarks, copyright, design registration, etc.).
