American Vogue has announced the appointment of Chloe Malle as its new Head of Editorial Content, effective immediately. The move places Malle at the helm of one of the world’s most influential fashion titles, as the magazine continues to balance its legacy with a rapidly evolving media and cultural landscape.
Expanding Leadership and Global Strategy
In her expanded role, Malle will oversee the creative and editorial vision of the U.S. edition while becoming part of Vogue’s global network of 10 heads of editorial content. She will report directly to Anna Wintour, Chief Content Officer at Condé Nast and Global Editorial Director of Vogue.
This leadership change allows Wintour to sharpen her focus on Vogue’s global growth initiatives — including its 28 international editions and high-profile brand platforms such as the Met Gala and Vogue World.
Anna Wintour’s Endorsement
Wintour expressed strong confidence in Malle’s ability to lead Vogue into its next era:
“Chloe has proven often that she can balance American Vogue’s long, singular history with its future on the front lines of the new,” Wintour said. “I am so excited to continue working with her, as her mentor but also as her student, while she leads us and our audiences where we’ve never been before.”
Chloe Malle’s Journey

Malle joined Vogue in 2011 as Social Editor, leading coverage on weddings and society while contributing across fashion, politics, beauty, and lifestyle. From 2016 to 2023, she worked as a Contributing Editor, writing features, leading special projects, and editing sittings. She has also overseen several Vogue book projects.
Her editorial footprint extends beyond Vogue, with bylines in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Architectural Digest, and WWD. Most recently, she has been serving as Editor of Vogue.com and co-hosting The Run-Through, Vogue’s weekly podcast covering fashion and culture.
Fashion, Media, and the Future
Speaking on her new role, Malle highlighted the pace of change within both industries:
“Fashion and media are both evolving at breakneck speed, and I am so thrilled—and awed—to be part of that. I also feel incredibly fortunate to still have Anna just down the hall as my mentor.”
Why This Matters
Malle’s appointment represents more than just a leadership shuffle — it reflects Vogue’s effort to blend heritage with innovation, ensuring the U.S. edition remains a cultural authority while staying relevant to new audiences. Her mix of industry expertise, editorial vision, and digital-first perspective positions her to steer Vogue through the challenges and opportunities of a changing fashion media landscape.
