Events are very important to keep any industry vibrant and the marketing and communications industry is no exception. It is where industry players get together and exchange knowledge and ideas. For the attendees, going to the industry-related events presents an opportunity to learn from some of the best minds in the industry and of course to build meaningful networks.

If you are based in Johanessburg these are the events you must attend. Important to note though is that this list focused on events that are hosted frequently in Johannesburg.

1. Suits & Sneakers

Suits & Sneakers is a “human development” event aimed at every living, breathing human being in South Africa!

Suits & Sneakers was created to disrupt the mundane thinking that comes with the routine of life. Sometimes people go astray because they have forgotten the so-called basics or perhaps they never applied them to begin with. Other times, they’re too rigid and inflexible to have the controlled edginess needed to stand out and thrive!

Suits & Sneakers hosts five speakers who present excellent content with an emphasis on masterful storytelling. There is no place to simply regurgitate the words from a PowerPoint presentation.

The first Suits & Sneakers event will be on 22 January 2020.

2. Marketing Fridays

Marketing Fridays is all about creating a space for Marketers that is centered around learning and connecting with each other. The events are hosted on the first and/or first Friday of the month and only 20 tickets are sold. The goal is to learn from a renowned Marketer around a burning Marketing topic in order to become better Marketers.

3. Thinkernuer Strategy Breakfast

THINKERNEUR Strategy Breakfast is a platform created to have relevant and robust engagements between marketers, creative agencies, and other key players, through the lens of strategy. Nothing should be done without Strategy.

The purpose is to encourage a higher level of thinking and at the Breakfasts, attendees will find value through presentations, talks, and conversation by those who are at the core of business and the industry.

4. AMASA Ignite Forums

The AMASA Ignite Forum, is a premier thought leadership forum for discussion about issues of importance to the advertising and media industries. The Ignite Forum, aims to educate, inform, share and update the industry through debate and networking platforms.

Monthly interactive workshops are offered during the year to discuss and debate contemporary issues crucial to the media, advertising and communication industry. The forum covers a wide range of topics ranging from the latest trends, new research findings, to legislations affecting the industry.

The first AMASA Ignite Forum Will on 5 February 2020.

5. Pat on Brands Dialogues

The Pat onBrands Dialogues were established in 2019 with the aim of encouraging well-seasoned marketers to share their stories and experiences with the younger generation as the audience. Each Dialogue is called an Episode to put emphasis on storytelling and sequence. There are no speakers or panelists at the Dialogues but storytellers who have journeyed through the ever-evolving marketing and communications landscape.

The benefits of these dialogues include passing on wisdom, re-energizing future marketers and also minimizing the generation gap.

The first Episode of Season 2 of the Pat on Brands Dialogues will be on 4 March 2020 at Tshimologong Precinct, Braamfontein.
